Revision and conservation processing of the ceramics ensemble from the Roman and Migration periods of the type Přešťovice - Friedenhain from the site Přešťovice

The bachelor thesis connects two fields: archaeology and conservation-restoration of archaeological ceramics. From the archaeological point of view, it summarizes knowledge about the ceramic material from the site of Přešťovice and about the site itself. It traces the history of the development of the conservation-restoration field, brings new knowledge from the conservation treatment of the ceramic collection from the site and seeks points of contact for communication and cooperation between archeologists and conservators.
The building program of Juba II

This thesis deals with the issue of building program of the Mauretanian ruler Juba II. Its aim is to capture the main features of Juba's building activity and put them in the cultural and political context of the contemporary Mediterranean. At the beginning, the thesis is defined in historical, cultural and territorial terms. Then the work describes Juba's urban and building achievements. Relations between southern and western Bohemia in Roman times and at the time of the migration of nations

The presented work tries to sums up all existing knowledge about settlement in the South Bohemia and West Bohemia region regions from The Roman Period and The Migration Period. The basis for this work is a brief summary of the general information from the Roman Times and the Migration Period and an to create an inventory of all sites and residential components. The second part of the work deals with the comparison of the two regions on the basis of selected monuments, where the density of the finds in both regions was monitored, the cross-section of selected findings, the natural conditions of the localities. The last part is an attempt to interpret obtained informations.
Climatic variability during Iron and Roman Iron Ages: Overview of recent research and case study of Bohemia

The thesis is focused mainly on climatic development during iron and roman iron ages and influence of climate on human populations in observed time period. First half of the body of this thesis is dedicated to paleoclimatological methods. Understanding of principles, strenghts and weaknesses of these methods is crucial for proper interpretation of climatic proxy. Few pages with description of the influence of climatic pattern of North Atlantic oscillation on climate of central Europe are also present in this thesis. The main part is the ountline of possible climate development which is based on various environmental proxy. The last part is Linked to the climatic reconstruction which is aiming to describe possible effect of climatic variability on migration and spatial structure of human settlement.
Pasture and its importance in La Téne and Roman Period

This Master thesis is dedicated to pasture and the overall image of animal husbandry in Central Europe in La Téne Period and Roman Age. An important part is evaluation of osteological assemblages grazed animals, the question of the spectrum of species and creating models applied in the territory of today's Czech republic. A meaningful component of this study is comparison farmed animals at the time of La Téne and Roman period. Roman silver vessels in Central European barbaricum

In this diploma thesis we shall analyze Roman silver vessels and their German imitations which were discovered on the territory of Central European barbaricum. In the first chapter, there is a brief introduction into the examined topic along with a definition of spatial and chronological frame within which we shall operate. The second chapter is devoted to the general information about mining and processing of silver, manufacturing and decorative techniques used in manufacturing of silver vessels, as well as to the basic information about Roman tableware. In the third chapter, we shall summarize the actual state of research on Roman silver vessels, while the fourth chapter will be devoted to the detailed list and analysis of individual finds. In the fifth chapter, the described finds will be summarized and interpreted, and consequently completed by the final remarks and findings in the last chapter. The catalogue of the finds, bibliography of cited literature, table, map and illustrations is attached to the textual part of this work. Findings of roman origin in Central Bohemia

This work is focused on roman imports in Central Bohemia from 1st to 4th century A.D. My aim is to pay attention on findings of roman - provincial origin, which are published in a literature, the second aim is to sort these objects on a specific types and determine their inclusion on a timeline of archaeological absolute or relative chronology. This knowledge is very important to say what their importance was and which role they played in our history in Central Bohemia. It is clear that Central Bohemia had different position in some phases of a roman period. The study of imports also produce a knowledge about the importance of imported subjects from roman provinces for our society in roman period and about influences, that had many impacts on this society and her nature. Forming and development of towns in Romain Britain in 2. and 3. century

This work deals with the Roman civilian settlements which began to emerge in the province of Britannia following its establishment in mid-first century. In the introduction the work describes the characteristic features of these settlements and their functions. The first chapter gives an overview of the different types of towns and their administrative establishment. In following chapters, the work deals with the town defences, private and public buildings and amenities, including religious buildings which were part of the towns. The work describes their type, design and development in general and also examples of these structures in most important locations.
